Policy Team
The Policy Team has received information about a possible opening to improve laundry pricing and potential laundry programs in 2027. They will make sure to compile all information for following administrations to continue in these efforts. The housing red flags informational video went up on our Instagram today! Additionally, further meetings with the AATU and MCards are being planned for when we return from Spring Break. Our Director and Deputy Director of Policy will be attending Big Ten on the Hill along with SGC Reaser. Priorities for this conference include housing, increasing federal funding for affordable student housing, food insecurity, SNAP reconfigurations that increase student eligibility and access, transportation, fleet modernization and funding focusing on Saferides (late night transportation), Financial Aid, continuing support for federal financial aid loans and Pell Grants, campus safety, Cleary Act reconfigurations focusing on suicide and hazing, health, telehealth expansions, and encouraging federally funded universities to accept Medicaid. Please connect with our Director Lidia if you have any questions.
The DEAC is working on the guidelines for the Disability Advocates and Caregivers Scholarship and have a meeting with SSD to discuss logistics. The March InclusiviTEA will be featuring the topic of sports and how that has impacted the disability community and will feature the Adaptive Sports Program!
SMPSEC will be hosting a Don’t Leave it up to Luck Event on March 12th from 1:30-3:30 in Mason Hall. We are partnering with Students for Reproductive Rights which is an org through Planned Parenthood that is known for amazing resources relating to safe sex, abortion rights/access, and reproductive resources, as well as Students Abasing Domestic Abuse.
The Chief Diversity Officer is working on implementing anti-racism training to the first year orientation programming.
