The executive committee has issued the following report for the February 18, 2025 Assembly Meeting:

  1. Notices to the Assembly

    1. The Executive Tracker is now live!

    2. The Executive is discussing donations to MESA earmarked for the Black Student Union, the CSG Black Excellence Gala, and to ESG for an event on North Campus. More to come soon!

  2. Communications Activities

    1. As a reminder, the March ACE deadline is February 19th so please submit materials to the communications request form before then.

    2. If you would like to be featured on Instagram for Black History Month or have a Black leader on campus to nominate, please fill out THIS FORM.

    3. If you have an event or special CSG related work coming up, please fill out THIS FORM to do an Instagram takeover.

  3. Programs and Events

    1. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Candlelight Vigil last week. We had visitors from MSU student government and it was a powerful evening of remembrance and solidarity.

    2. Thank you to everyone who volunteered at the Valentine's Day Bash. We had over 350 students in attendance and 3 mental health and well being organizations tabling. For clarification: The Center for Campus Involvement sponsored the event and covered its costs.

    3. Go Blue Goes Green: Collections are coming to an end and pick up will be happening this week. We have gotten such an amazing response from apartments and are very excited for the volume of donations we have received. Sorting will be happening this Friday from 12-6:30 PM. Please sign up for a shift to help sort because the more volunteers we have the faster we can get through all the donations. The link to the volunteer sheet is HERE.

    4. The Women’s History Month Brunch planning is currently underway. The event will be Saturday, March 15 from 9:30-12pm in the Michigan Union. To nominate a women student leader to attend the conference please fill out THIS FORM by February 28th.

    5. Operation Graduation is receiving a lot of love and we are hoping to fulfill a majority of the requests. The form will be open until the end of this week so please continue to spread the program! The form is linked HERE

  4. Policy Team

    1. The Policy Team met with Paul Bower the Mcard program manager, and are working together to include the suicide hotline (988) and DPSS number to the back of Mcards. They also met with the AATU and are excited to collaborate with future initiatives. Planning for Big Ten on the Hill is currently happening. The conference will be March 1st-4th. Please reach out to our Policy Director Lidia Cappelletti with any questions.

    2. The DEAC speaker event InclusiviTEA with the theme “Steeping in Strength: Navigating Disabled Life” will be on February 25th from 4:30-6 in the Kuenzel Room of the Union. The speakers will include J Betts, Charlie Lettenberger, and Tyler Fioritto, all of whom are very close to our CSG community. Please join to hear about their stories and experiences.

    3. SMPSEC successfully distributed over 315 wellness kits with resource cards, affirmation notes, condoms, and other essentials for the Valentine’s Day season. Additionally there were hundreds of cards crafted by students which were reviewed and will be shipped to a domestic violence shelter in our community. The commission is now working on doing more advocacy work and will be doing research regarding existing programs and potential collaborations with SAPAC.

  5. Meeting Headlines

    1. Jake and Mario met with Geoff Chatas, Executive Vice President and CFO of the University. They got a lot of support for implementing SNAP systems into university spaces and for partnering with Lyft to supplement the existing SafeRide program. More updates to come soon!

    2. Jake and Mario have started to conduct outreach to student organizations on campus. So far we’ve reached out to 150 student organizations (shoutout Aden for the help)! If you are a part of an organization and would like to meet with us, please use THIS LINK.

    3. The second University Council meeting will take place this Sunday. Reach out to Jake (jakefred@umich.edu) with any questions.
