Executive Updates:
Next Wednesday, September 6th, CSG is hosting an information session for student leaders about Campus Plan 2050 and Vision 2034. The event space has limited capacity, so a link to register was sent to all authorized signers of student organizations to target student leaders who represent larger pockets of the student body. Please reach out to Meera and Bipasha with any questions about the event!
Programs and Events:
Meet Your Representatives & Movie Night - Thursday, August 31
The “Meet Your Representatives” (MYR) portion will run from 7:00-8:30 PM
The movie night (La La Land) will start at 8:30 PM
There will be Joe's Pizza for the Meet Your Representative portion of the event, and popcorn for the movie night
Pride Outside - Sunday, September 3
CSG in partnership with oSTEM, Spectrum Center, and the College of Engineering will be hosting the Pride Outside event on Sunday, September 3 from 2pm-4:30pm on Angell Hall Lawn
Maize & Blue Cupboard Awareness events - Wednesday, September 20 & Friday, September 22
CSG will partner with MDining and MBC to help raise awareness of resources available on campus
Hydration Stations
CSG will partner with Fraternity & Sorority Life to help provide hydration stations for home football games
Diversifood - Sunday, October 8
This will take place on Sunday, October 8th from 3:00-6:00 PM on the Diag. The event will feature various identity-based student organizations highlighting their favorite foods from their culture, and will also include student performances on stage.
CSG 5k - Sunday, November 5
The date is tentatively set for Sunday, November 5th. The team is working with various organizations on campus, including MRun and MDining. Many more details to come!
Policy Team
CSG Textbook Shelf - You can find it in the UGli, and it now has 24 more textbooks, and 12 LSAT textbooks.
Association of Big Ten Students Conference
Meera and Bipasha attended the Association of Big Ten Students (ABTS) summer conference at the University of Maryland earlier this month. They had lots of fun, and are excited about the ideas, discussions, and collaboration that came out of the weekend!
Institutional Sustainability Learning Requirement
Policy Advisor on Sustainability Sayoni Bandyopadhyay is conducting research on the possibility of an institutional sustainability learning requirement. She has been in contact with faculty from the PitE program.
Government Relations
Director of Government Relations Akhila Mullapudi has been working on having introductory meetings with institutions across campus and the community. She has additionally been coordinating civics education initiatives and strategic planning with Democracy and Debate, as well as working on a Dinners for Democracy initiative with Turn Up Turnout (TUT), and community meetings with the Ginsberg Center.
