Executive Committee Report - April 1, 2025

The executive committee has issued the following report for the April 1, 2025 Assembly Meeting:


  1. Notices to the Assembly

    1. All departments of the executive have been working on respective transition documents. These will be finalized by April 4th.

  2. Communications Activities

    1. There was a Press Release in response to the University’s approach to DEI

    2. The April ACE will be released tomorrow April 2nd.

    3. All communications activity that has been preorganized will continue but no additional content will be created by the communications team after April 8th.

  3. Programs and Events

    1. World Bites, the cultural food fair organized by our programming team in collaboration with  LSA Student Government was a huge success! 

    2. The joint CSG X MPC Conference was a success, hosting Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, Mayor Chris Taylor, and the Executive Director of the Arab American Institute Maya Berry. The panel was followed by Workshops for Foreign Policy and Campaign Strategy which many students found to be engaging.

    3. Operation Graduation is all set and ready for distribution. The gowns have been packaged and pickup of the gowns will be happening throughout this month until April 20th and will be retired by May 7th.

    4. The subsidized graduation photoshoots in collaboration with michgrads happened yesterday and today. With a lot of interest from students this program was a huge success!

    5. Sunset Cinema will be on April 4th from 7-9 PM on the Diag. There will be popcorn, hot chocolate, CSG branded blankets, and pizza so come enjoy with friends. The movie for this year is Tangled!

    6. The Grocery Store Bus Program has been approved and the pilot program will be happening April 12-13 and April 19-20. The routes can be viewed HERE. There will be an additional all campus email released to promote this pilot program.

    7. The joint CSG End of Year Gala will be held on April 11th. There will be light hors d'oeuvres and will include activities organized by the joint branch planning team. RSVP FORM

  4. Policy Team

    1. The Policy Team has been continuing their lobbying efforts with various stakeholders such as Peters, Slotkin, and Dingell regarding the student regents letter of support. 

    2. The DEAC is hosting an Autism Awareness Event that will TOMORROW April 2nd from 1-5 first floor UGLI There will be various fidget toys, prizes, and an overall educational opportunity to learn more about World Autism Day. We need volunteers! Please sign up for a quick tabling spot using THIS LINK In collaboration with the Barger Leadership Institute the Accessibility Case Competition will work through real world accessibility challenges while learning about creative design. Registration is still open and the competition will be on April 5th from 4-7PM in the Pond Room.

    3. SMPSEC is continually working to implement resource bins in the dorms and have meetings planned with Wolverine Wellness to make this initiative happen.

  5. Meeting Headlines

    1. Mario, Jake, Joyce, Lidia, as well as Speaker Veal, Rep Brown, and Rep Proviero visited President Ono’s house to speak with his cabinet and leadership.

    2. Mario and Jake met with President Ono on Tuesday, April 1st. Please see their talking points (to be elaborated on verbally)

      1. New University Approach to DEI

      2. Lack of Student Representation in Search for VP of Research

      3. Repairing Relationships between Students and Administration

        1. Increased initiative for conversations about university policy making decisions

        2. Established representation for students to elevate student voice (Presidential Leadership Council, University of Michigan Board of Regents, etc.)

    3. Jake met with representatives from Financial Aid to discuss amplifying SNAP eligibility and registration resources. 

    4. Mario and Jake met with VP Harmon to discuss several initiatives including:

      1. Grocery Store Pilot Program

      2. SmartRide Partnership

      3. Maize and Blue Cupboard North Campus Expansion
